Life: The next big thing.

So often we want our lives to fast forward or we want to see everything fold out before us in a neat little package so we'll know what to expect right around the corner. I often wonder what will things be like in just five years or just two years. And I want to write down my feelings and anticipations, so once those years come and go, I can look back and realize that anything I was anxious about or anything I was looking forward to or unsure about became greater or even better than I imagined. There are always those big questions that you start asking from when you're little...like "Who will my best friends be?" "Who will I marry?" "What will I work as?" "Where will I live?" "When will I do this and when will I do that?" And most of your years, you feel like you're coasting to the next big thing. And growing up certainly sneaks up on you! We're in our safe little bubble for so long, then we find ourselves out on our own making decisions for ourselves! As scary as it is, we start thinking and sounding more like our own parents! Well, sometimes. So the big milestones like getting out of school, finding a good job, discovering who we are, having a good place to live...we look back and we think how amazing it is that we got to this point in our lives! And would we have liked a flash forward image of where our lives were taking us all along? Maybe, but maybe not. And it's funny to think how Point A brought me to Point B, C, D, and E. When we put all the bits and pieces together...we find that our journey was leading us somewhere all along. I can honestly say that it's funny how things work out. The things I have always loved and cared for, those things are big parts of my life right now. To be happy in the moment...to be happy with your decisions, happy with where you are and who you're with...and where you're going in life...That, that right there was worth all the patience in the world. But the key all along was just living, living each day and living it in a way that kept you true to yourself, true to others, and true to your own future.
